Go Red for Women
On February 3rd, I joined many other legislators in Go Red for Women Day to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke specific to women. According to the American Heart Association, the event’s sponsor, heart disease is the number one killer of women. Walk in the Fells
On September 13, 2008, I cosponsored a Walk in the Fells with Walk Boston. We were led by DCR rangers and members of Friends of the Fells. Here are some of the things we saw.
Shannon Beach Dedication
On Saturday, Sept. 13, the Department of Conservation and Recreation held a special dedication at Sandy Beach, 4 Mystic Valley Pkwy., Winchester, at 10 a.m.
Officials from the DCR, as well as DCR Commissioner Richard K. Sullivan Jr., Sen. Patricia D. Jehlen, D-Somerville, Rep. Paul C. Casey, D-Winchester, Rep. Paul J. Donato, D-Medford, and the family of the late Sen. Charles E. Shannon Jr. were on hand to dedicate the former Sandy Beach site as the Sen. Charles E. Shannon Jr. Memorial Beach.
